There are many fuel storage tanks in Alaska that sit idle for long periods of time. This can cause problems
tank owners may not be aware of.
Fuel storage tanks should be inspected monthly for the presence of water. Inspection should take place at
the lowest points inside the primary tank. This water must be removed. Water and sediment in fuel can plug filters. Bacterial growth originating from fuel can not only plug filters but can also cause
corrosion of the tank and fuel lines.
A report by the US Department of Energy, BNL 48406, provides information on methods to test for and remove
water, test for bacteria in fuel, tank cleaning, and fuel additives. If you would like a copy of this report, e-mail tom@anchoragetank.com.
Additional Installation, Testing, & Maintenance Instructions are provided with each sti-P3® , Fireguard®, Flameshield®, and F921® tank.
Failure to adhere to those instructions may void your warranty.
